OnlyFans uses algorithms and profile discovery tools such as popular models lists, trending topics, or new accounts sections to promote public profiles. These help users discover and engage with creators’ work in various categories like adult entertainment, art, music, sports, fashion, gaming, travel, cooking, education, wellness, beauty, self-improvement, comedy, dance, foodie content, photography, and more.

Search Functionality on OnlyFans

The platform allows users to search for specific creators or types of content. This can range from keywords like a creator’s name, categories they’re part of (e.g., sex education), location-based searches, languages spoken, or even topics covered in their work.

This helps ensure creators maintain control and manage expectations with their audience.

Access Levels for Free Content

Content that’s shared publicly is often accessible by anyone. Some models have a system where only those who have reached a particular threshold (e.g., followed or subscribed) can unlock special perks, such as early access to new releases.

Risks and Misconceptions

• Misconception: Public content is free from risks. In reality, even though public profiles offer some protections by nature of being publicly accessible (e.g., they can report abuse more easily), users must still be vigilant about sharing their personal details online.
• Risk: Users may find themselves involved in interactions or scenarios involving individuals who misrepresent themselves as someone else. It’s crucial to exercise caution when connecting with other users, especially if engaging with strangers through platforms that do not guarantee background checks for every user (i.e., some adult-focused social networks).

While OnlyFans has measures in place to minimize risks associated with public creator profiles and browsing content shared within them, there will still be certain potential drawbacks due to its adult nature. Users need to recognize these limitations.

• Browsing: The main purpose is for users who want access to public profiles without having to commit financially or directly interact with the creator.
• New user experience: It introduces newcomers to specific types of content, enabling them to gauge if what they find appealing matches their preferences.
